The Schedule

Day by Day

1

Day 1

Edinburgh to the Scottish Borders

We begin with a visit to the beautiful Rosslyn Chapel, followed by Thirlestane Castle and the historic Traquair House — Scotland's oldest continually inhabited house. In the evening we stay in the Borders area, with options including Stobo Castle, Barony Castle, or the option to rent the entire Neidpath Castle for your exclusive use.

Day 2

Borders Castle Day Tour

A full day exploring some of the finest castles in the Scottish Borders, including Floors Castle, Duns Castle Estate, and the atmospheric ruins of Melrose Abbey and/or Jedburgh Abbey. We return to the hotel in the evening.

Day 3

Dumfries & Galloway Hidden Gems

We head west into Dumfries & Galloway to visit three standout hidden gem castles: the dramatic Hermitage Castle, the striking moated Caerlaverock Castle, and the imposing Threave Castle. Overnight at Glenapp Castle or a high-quality hotel nearby.

Day 4

Optional Extension – Isle of Bute or Isle of Arran

You can extend the tour by one day to visit either the Isle of Bute (Rothesay Castle and the magnificent Mount Stuart), or the Isle of Arran (including Brodrick Castle and the beautiful island scenery).

Day 5

Day 4 (or Day 5 if extended): Return Journey

On the final day we visit Culzean Castle, Dundonald Castle, and Bothwell Castle before returning you to Edinburgh or Glasgow.
